All-County 7s Football Champions 2015

All-County 7s Football Champions

The primary school GAA season has only begun and already St. Marys NS has made a little bit of sporting history when both their boys’ and girls’ football teams became Allianz All-County 7s champions. In doing so, we have become the first school to win both competitions in the same year. As this competition is open to all 55 schools in the county, it is very competitive. We have been winners on previous occasions, in fact the girls are the current holders and will be aiming for a three in a row next year.
Both teams had to play 3 blitzes each on the way to the finals beating 18 teams between them from all over County Louth. The finals were organised by Cumann na mBunscol in Castlebellingham and we will get the opportunity to see the boys and girls in action again on May 17th, as they now have the honour of representing Louth primary schools while playing at half time at the Louth V Westmeath Leinster quarter final. The boys last won this competition 10 years ago and the team that day included a certain Patrick Reilly! Who knows, maybe there will be a future star in the making on show?
Congratulations to all involved and good luck to the boys and girls on this wonderful achievement and best wishes for the rest of the season.
