Proclamation for a New Generation

Pupils' Achievements

On this, the centenary of the Easter Rising, we, the pupils of Scoil Naomh Muire, Cnoc Bríde wish to pledge our allegiance to the ideals of our forefathers and the signatories of the original Proclamation of the Irish Republic in 1916.
The Ireland of today has reached a new era of amazing diversity, in which we uphold the right of all her people to freedom, respect, equality and justice, irrespective of race, culture, colour, gender or religion.

We declare our intention to continue to promote Irish culture, literature and identity. We need to treasure the Irish language. Everyone should be encouraged to speak our native tongue with happiness and pride.the words of Pádraig Pearse: “Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam.”

Our national flag, the tricolour, is a symbol of peace and unity in our country and we are very proud that it represents an extension of the “Céad Míle Fáilte” to all who choose to make Ireland their home.
One hundred years on from 1916, however, poverty and homelessness are still ruining many lives here. We must do all we can to end such hardship. We declare the right of all people to have a roof over their heads and food on the table. Nobody should have to go hungry or sleep on the streets.

It is the entitlement of every citizen to have access to a high standard of healthcare that is affordable to all.also call on the people of Ireland to play their part in looking after their own health by getting enough sleep, eating healthily and exercising regularly.
Every member of society has the right to an education. To provide better opportunities for their future, every citizen should have access to further education and training programmes. We also yearn for a time when there will be enough jobs to provide a fair income for everyone.

We vow to protect the environment so that Ireland can live up to her reputation as the ‘Emerald Isle’. achieve this, we are committed to recycling more materials, using alternative modes of transport, reducing the amount of litter we produce and harnessing more renewable forms of energy. This commitment will prove essential for the lives of future generations.

All children have the right to be brought up feeling safe, secure and loved. They will then become moral and caring grownups who value themselves and others. We should always treat people as we would like them to treat us.Adults need to nurture and protect the children of the nation as they are the seeds of the future.
We, the pupils of Scoil Naomh Muire, Cnoc Bríde now look both to our past and to our future as the Irish nation. We will strive to fulfil our own vision and that for which our ancestors bravely died in 1916. We resolve, now, in 2016, to once again, answer Ireland’s call, and ensure the august destiny of which our proud nation is truly worthy.
