We do Aistear four times a week in Junior Infants. For a month, we did the “Shop” theme. One group played with the role-play shop we created. The children pretended to be shopkeepers, managers and customers. They even organised the food into the different sections in a supermarket eg. The frozen food, fruit and vegetables, dairy products etc. Another group played with the Beebots where you programme in the directions to instruct the Beebot where to go. The third group of the “shop theme” was the Orchard Tree Shopping List game where the children learned the skills of taking turns and listening. The final group constructed a town where they built swimming pools, jewelers, bakeries and many other facilities.
