We had such a busy week this week as it was Maths week! It all started on Monday when we went to the Helix! We left school at 10.30am. We ate some lunch when we got there and then left the bus to find our seats inside. When we got inside we couldn’t believe how massive it was! We took our seats in the front row and waited for the Murderous Maths tricks to begin! We weren’t allowed to bring our bags into the hall so we left them on the bus with our trusty bus driver Gerry. Then the show started. Kjartan Poskitt, the author of the Murderous Maths series of books took to the stage! Kjartan was very funny. He showed us lots of cool maths tricks and brought a few different children up on stage. When the show was over, we went outside and took a picture at the giant DCU sign. We got back on the bus and headed for Knockbridge where the bell was about to ring for home time!
On Tuesday we learned about the Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos in Spanish. We started our Sugar Skull art. We did buddy Maths with Ms. Molloy’s 1st class. We made lots of tangram pictures, it was really fun! The boys had a visit from the De la Salle.
Wednesday was the day we had all been waiting for…it was finally time to make SLIME! It was a sticky mess but we cleaned it up, and everybody got a some slime to take home in their potion jar. We also finished our Sugar Skull art. We coloured in our designs and added some flowers to them too. They looked great when they were all finished!
Thursday was our first day in the library! We got to check out lots of new books and we even scanned them onto our own library account. Thanks to Seán and Gavin for doing such a great job as our Librarians!
After our 2nd last swimming session on Friday, we went to Coding in St. Vincent’s Secondary School. Before we walked over to St. Vincents we had our lunch at the pool. We had lots of fun at the various stations the girls had set up for us, and we got to visit the school mascot, Finn the Labrador! When we got back to school we finished our lunch and had a quick break outside. Our last task of the day was our Master your Maths Friday test, the end to a very busy week!! We had great fun all week carrying out the Maths Challenges set up by Mr.McClean! Thank you for your marvellous Maths Mr. McClean!
