February in Junior Infants

February in Junior Infants

Junior Infants had a very exciting month of school in February!

Using the theme of food, we set up a restaurant in our Aistear area. Children got to take on roles of being a chef, a waiter/waitress and of course customers.

We read the story “Handa’s Surprise” and drew our own baskets of fruit, especially our favourite fruits like strawberries, passion fruit and bananas. We also used some fruit and vegetables to paint during art. Instead of a paint brush, we cut the food in half and used the fruit, making prints of all shapes and sizes.

Junior Infants also got to make our very own strawberry milkshakes after learning about the story of milk. They were so tasty!

In our Oral language lessons, we were learning how to make pizza and as everyone in Junior Infants loves pizza, we decided to make our very own. As a class we decided on one Margherita pizza and one Pepperoni pizza. We were delighted with how they turned out!
