Yesterday we had, as usual, a jam-packed final assembly in Halla Setanta. It was also an emotional one as we said a huge, Knockbridge, “Slán, slán!” to Carmel and Rang VI!
Carmel has been with us for 16 years and has been a shining beacon of kindness, knowledge, warmth and empathy throughout this time. She spoke fondly about her time here and in particular about the boys and class she has cared for over the past 8 years from the day they walked into Junior Infants until now, their final day in KBNS.
Some of Carmel’s beloved family were there to witness a fitting tribute to a wonderful lady as a superb video made by Ms Clarke and Ms Conroy was shown to the audience.
After their graduation ceremony the previous evening, Rang VI were given a send-off by Master, their teachers and the whole school.
We had the usual achievements announcements and monthly awards with Carmel on hand as special guest presenter.
During our busy assembly there were awards and certificates handed out as we recognised the members of the victorious county hurling teams, the winners of our school football league, those pupils with perfect attendance records, Family Fun Run winners, the Green School Committee and the winners of our recent talent show!
Looking back, it really was another truly memorable school year for all involved, but one that was tinged with a little emotion as we said goodbye to Mrs Farren and Carmel who set off into the sunset of fully deserved retirement!
