A great year’s football for our girls’ team came to a close this morning with a heartbreaking loss to a very strong Ballapousta side in the semi-final of Sciath Mhic Giolla Eáin. Up against the winners of Corn Sheán Mac Cába in Autumn and the reigning all-county 7 a-side champions, our girls had their work cut out for them but they performed exceptionally. In fact, going into the final stages of the game they found themselves a point up due to an heroic performance by all in the red and white. Unfortunately, the experience of the Ballapousta side was enough to retake the lead and a final score of 1-9 to 2-4 showed just how difficult our girls made the game for them.
We are exceptionally proud of the commitment and determination showed by the girls this year and the hard work put into the coaching and development by Ms Sweeney and Mrs McKeown. We’ve no doubt that there’ll be siverware to come in the not-too distant future!
