Ms. Moynagh & Ms. Hanafin’s Retirement

Ms. Moynagh & Ms. Hanafin’s Retirement

Our Halloween assembly was dedicated to our two long-serving members of staff, Ms. Moynagh and Ms. Hanafin, who were retiring from teaching with over fifty years service to education between them.

Mr. McDonnell extended a warm welcome to our pupils, teachers, former teachers, Ms. Moynagh & Ms. Hanafin’s families, parents, members of the Board of Management and the Parents & Friends Association. He then addressed the assembly recalling our two esteemed teachers’ illustrious careers, spanning three decades. During these years they both embraced their profession with dedication and kindness.

Mrs. Farren then went on to read a reflection on the new chapter in life awaiting our two retirees. This was followed by sixth class pupils reading a poem they penned recalling their memories of the two teachers.

Both teachers were then presented with gifts and bouquets of flowers on behalf of the BOM and the Parents & Friends Association. Ms. Moynagh and Ms. Hanafin addressed the gathering and thanked everybody for their good wishes and thoughtful gifts as they said farewell to Knockbridge School.

We couldn’t let them leave, however, without a tune! Unbeknownst to the two teachers, every class including their own, had been taught a special version of  ‘So Long, Farewell’ to fit the occasion. It was with sadness that we said farewell to Ms. Moynagh and Ms. Hanafin and we wish them both long years of health and happiness in the next chapter of their lives.
