Tús maith…

Walk on Wednesday got off to a flying start this week with many students joining Mrs. Farren, Mrs. Bell and Mr. McClean for the walk to school. We’d love to see more students joining us for the rest of September on our early morning walk, particularly our senior students. Well done to all who participated! See you again next Wednesday.

5th Class students Seán, Sofia, Gemma, Luke, Sarah-Jane and Aaron are busy monitoring our classrooms and yard for litter. Every year 5th Class takes on the important job of keeping our school building and environs litter-free. We are very proud of our school and encourage all students to reduce packaging when preparing school lunches and use the appropriate bins (composter, paper and general waste) in school.

“Energy Savers” and “Tidy Classroom” Detectives check our classrooms at lunchtime. This week’s detectives are Sarah, Anna, Alanna and Eva. Each day they select the “Tidiest Classroom” and the “Most Eco-Friendly Classroom.” At our monthly assembly, the winners are announced and granted a night off homework! A most coveted prize indeed!

Josh and Donovan have been checking out the progress of our apple trees, which we planted two years ago, with the assistance of our local Tidy Towns group. This year’s crop is looking good.
